Fanlistings?

What is a fanlisting? It's pretty much what it sounds; a list of fans of a certain subject. In this case, that subject is Jill, from Fire Emblem: Souen no Kiseki and Akatsuki no Megami. (Path of Radiance and Goddess of Dawn.) If you'd like more information or links to fanlistings, head on over to TheFanlistings.Org, or AnimeFanlistings.Org for anime/manga-specific ones.

FIRE EMBLEM?

Fire Emblem is a Japanese series of strategy-RPG games, generally centering on some variant of 'royal battles to protect/regain their kingdom' plot. Souen no Kiseki, the first game in which Jill appears, is a bit different. FE9 follows the story of the Greil Mercenary Company, following Ike, the son of the leader, as the company gets caught up in a war that engulfs the entire continent. I can't say much about Akatsuki no Megami, as I haven't had the chance to play it yet, and don't want to be spoiled for it.

JILL?

Jill is a Wyvern Knight from Daein. She's a relatively new recruit into the Daein military, eager to prove herself to her country and especially to her father, a soldier himself. She is in Captain Haar's battalion of Wyvern Knights, and first appears when the group reach Toha. Jill is on the field as an enemy, however she will not attack unless she is attacked first. (On Hard mode, she does seem to attack, but still only if you let a character go in her range. By the time she appears on the map, though, most units should already be a fair distance away.) Assuming that Jill isn't killed in this chapter, she reappears in the next, first as a Green Other unit who approaches Ike. She invites herself into the party, eager to help them kill the raven laguz that have attacked.

After the fight, Ike reluctantly allows Jill to stay, the two reaching an uncomfortable agreement. Jill sticks with the group from then on, becoming a playable unit. Late in the game, the group reach Jill's home town when they march on Daein. If Jill is a playable character and speaks to her father, then she will rejoin the enemy and can only be gotten back if she has an A support with Lethe or Mist. (Or so I've heard, anyway; I've always kept Jill out of that battle and not taken the risk. Mist even warns Ike about it in an Info conversation.)

In battle, Jill is the only Wyvern Knight you'll get until late in the game when Haar comes along, and since Haar is a pre-promote, Jill tends to be people's preferences. She's underlevelled when you first get her, and the timeframe in which she first appears isn't helpful for training her up. (I tend to give her a couple of levels of Bonus EXP so that she won't be annihilated.) Fortunately, though, her RNG seems to be failsafe, and providing you accept and factor in the pitiful RES that all Wyvern Knights are 'blessed' with, Jill is one of the most solid units in the game. Particularly once she becomes a Wyvern Lord, Jill is nigh unstoppable. Thanks to the great HP and DEF she acquires, even ballistae can't stop her. Jill is especially good if given Bands to increase her Speed and/or Res. Fortunately, she also has good supports; Mist in particular is handy, seeing as late in the game, Mist as a Valkyrie often needs a bodyguard anyway. Jill's a great solid unit, and her supports only make her better.
